Treadmills and elliptical trainers are two of the most common pieces of fitness equipment used. Let's look at why they are so popular and favored over other devices.

The dual handlebars add the motion of cross country skiing to the workout which means in the same amount of time that you work your legs and lower body, you can also tone your arms and upper body. You set the machine and go. If you prefer to control all the factors yourself, you can either cancel the pre-set program and program the machine yourself or just make modifications to the pre-set program.

Which Should You Choose?

Both treadmills and elliptical trainers give great workouts for the heart and can burn unwanted calories if used on a regular basis.

If your exercise consists of just walking or running, you should use a treadmill to supplement your outdoor activities. The machine will allow you to control your exercise and level of exertion in a safe environment that may reduce injuries compared to working on a hard surface.

An elliptical machine is your choice if you desire complete upper and lower body workouts or need to stick with low-impact exercise. You will get benefit for your exercise time without hurting your body.
